Our Space
Wynberg Village is one of the few heritage areas in Cape Town. It’s small enclave of old shops and cottages dates back to the early 1800s.
In the centre of the Village is a unique and beautiful old building on the Corner of Wolfe Street and Durban Road. The façade is a two story Victorian Building (dated 1896) with 2 gables and unusual ground floor shops with huge teak windows. These shops are like no other in Cape Town and showcase fabulous merchandise.
An added benefit is that the building faces the Village Square (which is actually a triangle) so there is an open vista of the building.
And then there is a secret…
Going down a little passage, you arrive into beautiful hidden garden, The Chelsea Courtyard. This courtyard is professionally landscaped and features an antique fountain, surrounded by small shops.
The left of the courtyard is a stunning unusual old stone building (1827). It was built as a Provisions store for wagons travelling from Cape Town to Simonstown. Durban Road was the old wagon path. The old stone building even has an old bull’s head build into the wall.
Further benefits are Wynberg Village is part of the Wynberg Improvement District so there is dedicated private security and the building has its own dedicated security guard during business hours and the streets are kept clean.
